FAO ups 2017-18 world wheat output view by 2.8 MMT to 757.6 MMT.

Global wheat production in 2017-18 is seen at 757.6 mln tn, up 2.8 mln tn from last month’s forecast. The bulk of this month’s increase was driven by higher production estimates for Canada and the Russian Federation. The global wheat output is seen 0.5% lower than a year ago. The FAO has reduced its estimate for wheat utilisation in 2017-18 to 733.9 mln tn from 739.9 mln tn a month ago due to lower demand for feed wheat in view of ample supplies of cheaper coarse grains in global markets. Wheat consumption for food usage in 2017-18, however, is seen at an all-time high of 504 mln tn
