French wheat quality continues to slide as March cold snap bites.

French soft and hard wheat quality continued to decline, touching a four-year low, following a cold snap during the second half of March. The share of French soft wheat rated good to excellent lost another percentage point on the week to 78%, well below the 90% share last year and nearing the four-year low level of 77% for this time of year. Meanwhile, French durum wheat quality slid as well, with its “good to excellent” share down two points on the week to 79%. Temperatures in France during the second half of March fell as much as 4 degrees below seasonal norm, after a relative warmer first half of March.
