The government had procured 3,832 tn of soybean harvested in the 2019-20 (Jul-Jun) kharif season from farmers in Telangana at the minimum support price.
Soybean procurement is being carried out in four districts in Telangana under the price support scheme. The Centre’s nodal agency NAFED (National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India) is procuring soybean from farmers.
Under the scheme, state-run agencies procure the commodity at the minimum support price from growers when prices in spot markets slump.
NAFED had commenced soybean buying in mid-October in Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Nirmal and Adilabad districts in Telanagana. The highest procurement of 1,501 ton. Procurement was carried out from 2,232 farmers in the state.
