Govt allows export of 1 million tones sugar in ongoing 2024-25 season

The Indian government  has allowed for the export of 1 million tones of sugar for the 2024-25 season. This decision is aimed at keeping prices steady and providing support to farmers and workers in the sugar sector. It comes after last season’s total ban on exports due to issues with domestic supply.
Food Minister Mr. Joshi stated that this move will help around five crore farming families and five lakh workers in the industry. He pointed out that this decision will positively affect both agriculture and manufacturing.
Last season, exports were completely stopped because of supply concerns, so this new policy marks a significant change ,as shown in the Food Ministry’s recent order detailing how the export quotas will be allocated among sugar mills.
