Govt buys 177,331 tn wheat in Madhya Pradesh so far, down 56% on yr .

The government has procured 177,331 tn wheat in Madhya Pradesh for 2018-19 (Apr-Mar) season so far, sharply lower than 401,039 tn a year ago. The procurement is currently active in Indore, Ujjain and Bhopal districts. For 2018-19 (Apr-Mar), the central government has fixed minimum support price at 1,735 rupees per 100 kg but the Madhya Pradesh government has announced a bonus of 265 rupees to all registered farmers in the state. The government is providing this bonus under a new scheme Chief Minister Krishak Samriddhi Yojna. Under this plan, even the registered farmers selling their crops in the open market will be entitled to the bonus.
