Govt sets aside 15% of 60-bln rupee Sampada plan for grain mills.

Government has said that 15% of the allocated budget for its scheme to boost food processing industry Kisan Sampada Yojana will be set aside for the grain milling sector. The total grant for the scheme is 60 bln rupees to be spent till 2019-20 (Apr-Mar). Govt had proposed to help private entrepreneurs who wish to set up food processing units for fruits and vegetables, milk, meat, poultry, fish, breakfast cereals, pulses, oilseeds, coconut, soybean among other commodities. Under the scheme, financial assistance to food processing units in the form of grant-in-aid of 35% of total cost up to 50 mln rupees will be provided for setting up the unit in general areas.
