Production of maize in Bihar is likely to rise 10% on year in the ongoing rabi season, helped by higher sowing of the coarse grain. The state produced 2.13 mln tn rabi maize in 2016-17, sharply higher than 1.1 mln tn a year ago. Bihar maize acreage has already surpassed the year-ago level and sowing in the state is likely to continue for another week.
