Prices of rice continued to rise in Karnal, Haryana, the key wholesale market, due to hopes of a higher export demand as Iran has lifted the ban on imports. Iran government lifted the ban on rice imports with effect from Nov 22. The country is a major buyer of Indian rice and buys around 700,000 MT basmati from India every year.
