Futures contracts of raw sugar on the ICE hit an over four-month high of 12.90 cents per pound due to a recent rally in the Brazilian real against the US dollar. At 1532 IST, the benchmark March contract was up 1.7% at 12.84 cents a pound. In addition, strength in energy and the rest of the commodity complex caused a rise in the commodity indices, perhaps as a result of new money coming in from investors.
