Futures contracts of raw sugar on the ICE are rising due to expectations of higher production in India in 2017-18 (Oct-Sep). Market players expect sugar production in India to be around 25 mln tn in the next season. For the ongoing season, output is estimated at around 20 mln tn, sharply down from 25.1 mln tn produced a year ago. ICE July raw sugar contract down 0.8% at $14.22 cents a pound.
