IMD has advised farmers in Madhya Pradesh to start preparation of nurseries for kharif paddy in the key growing regions. It has also advised direct seeding of paddy where irrigation facilities are available. Recent pre-monsoon showers are likely to aid the sowing of paddy, a key kharif food grain crop, in the state. Madhya Pradesh is among the leading growers of aromatic and non-aromatic paddy in the country and monsoon usually reaches the state late June.
