IMD advised Maharashtra wheat farmers to check rust disease.

IMD’s Agrimet has advised farmers in Maharashtra to spray fungicides on the wheat crop to control the spread of rust disease. Current weather is seen congenial for the spread of the disease. The disease if not addressed in time stunts plant growth, shrivels grains, and reduces grain size that eventually hits the yield. Wheat area in the state was at 801,000 ha, down 17% on year.
