IMD’s Agrimet has warned that present weather conditions in south Bihar alluvial zone are highly favourable for incidence of blast disease in rice and monitoring is required. Early symptoms include development of eye shaped spot in the leaf sheath with light center and dark boundaries. Bihar area under kharif rice cultivation is at 3.42 mln ha, up 4.5% on year.
