Uttar Pradesh government today said that cane crushing has started in 75 sugar mills as compared to 37 mills last year. After directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for ensuring timely operation of sugar mills, Cane Department has succeeded in starting of cane crushing in 75 sugar mills whereas only 37 Sugar mills operated last year till this day. An action plan was made to ensure early operation of sugar mills in the crushing season 2017-18. In the current season, sugar mills have started making cane price payments to farmers within 14 days and paid Rs 547 crore as cane payment, while it was nil last year in this period.
