India govt offloads 50,000 tn wheat under open market sales scheme on 04 Jan.

The government sold 50,000 tn wheat under the open market sales scheme, tenders for which closed on Jan 04. Of the total sales, 13,500 tn was purchased by the government of Karnataka and 100 tn by Jammu and Kashmir. Private players bought 11,250 tn wheat in Punjab, 4,650 tn in Haryana, and 20,500 tn in West Bengal. For the rest of the country, government sales remained nil. So far in the 2017-18 (Apr-Mar) marketing year, the government has sold 799,200 tn wheat.
