India govt sells nearly 1,500 tn wheat under OMSS last week.

Government sold nearly 1,500 tn wheat through its tender under the open market sales scheme last week. The response to government tenders remained poor, and sales took place only in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Govt sales have worsened as West Bengal government, which was purchasing till last week did not buy this time and in Punjab only 1,100 tn was sold against 1,300 last week. In Punjab, traders turned to open market sales as wholesale prices have exceeded the government base price.
