Wheat prices rose slightly in the key wholesale markets of the country due to firm demand ahead of festivals. Wheat prices also rose in anticipation of an import duty hike after Diwali. Wheat currently attracts 10% import duty, which the government is likely to increase to boost prices and encourage farmers to take up the grain cultivation in the rabi season.
