Indian Maize Imports around 0.8 Mln tonnes on High Demand

According to Trade Sources data, India imported a total of 0.8 million tonnes of maize between February to October 2024, primarily from Ukraine and Myanmar. The highest volume of imports was recorded in June 2024, with a peak of 207.4 thousand tonnes.

Ukraine:

From February to October 2024, India imported approximately 445.5 thousand tonnes of maize from Ukraine, primarily through the ports of Kandla and Jaigarh. The highest monthly import volume was recorded in June, with 105.1 thousand tonnes. Monthly import quantities were as follows: 71.6 thousand tonnes in February, 52.8 thousand tonnes in March, 51.8 thousand tonnes in May, 68 thousand tonnes in August, 55.0 thousand tonnes in September, and 41.2 thousand tonnes in October 2024.

Myanmar:

Between February and October 2024, India imported approximately 390.7 thousand tonnes of maize from Myanmar, primarily through the port of Tuticorin. The highest volume was recorded in May, with imports totaling 102.6 thousand tonnes. Notably, import volumes remained relatively consistent across May, June, and July.
