India’s cardamom exports are expected to increase in 2025, driven by a projected 44% decline in Guatemala’s production due to pest damage and poor harvesting. The Guatemala’s output expected to fall to 17,000-20,000 tonne in 2024-25 season. The Indian exporters, are eyeing a larger share of the Gulf markets, especially ahead of Ramadan and are offering 30% lower prices.
However, Indian producers are facing their own challenges, including a 50% drop in yields this season, leading to higher prices and concerns over supply shortages. The recent snail infestations in Indian plantations are causing quality concerns, which could impact yield if not managed.
