The agricultural ministry reported on 2nd Dec 2024, that since the start of the sowing season on October 1, Indian farmers had planted 20 million hectares of wheat, an increase of 6.6% from a year earlier. The second-largest producer of wheat in the world may be able to boost output and lower prices after they reached a record high last week with more planting. According to the statistics, farmers planted mustard and rapeseed on 7.6 million hectares by November 29 compared to 8 million hectares the previous year. As it receives further data from state governments, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare revises its preliminary crop sowing estimates. The northern provinces of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and the central state of Madhya Pradesh are the primary producers of wheat in India. (Source-Economictimes.indiatimes)
