Iran increased wheat bran imports from Kazakhstan.

Wheat bran exports from Kazakhstan continue growing from year to year. Kazakhstan exported 192 KMT of wheat bran in the 2016/17 season, or almost 6% more than a year ago (181.6 KMT was shipped abroad in MY 2015/16). The key end market for Kazakh bran is Uzbekistan, but this country reduced imports by almost 10% to 137 KMT in the 2016/17 season. At the same time, growth is registered in shipments to other destinations. Exports to Turkey increased 5%, while those to Iran almost tripled. In addition, 7% of the 2016/17 total of Kazakh wheat bran exports went to China. Although Kazakhstan is one of the world’s top flour exporters, its wheat bran exports lag far behind those from Ukraine (615 KMT exported in MY 2016/17) and Russia (958 KMT).
