Sugar production in the first four months of the year dropped by 28% compared with the same period LY, pushing up the price of a 50-kilogramme bag to Sh6,150. January and April, production of Sugar dropped to 172,722 tonnes vs 238,872 tonnes LY. Low production pushed sugar sales down by 25% to 173,601 tonnes compared with 231,488 tonnes sold in the LY.
