According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under kharif maize is increased by 2 percent to 8,125 thousand hectares as against 7,942 thousand hectares sowed during the same period in last year.
Madhya Pradesh stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of maize, with 1,741 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 1,599 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an impressive gain of 9%.
Karnataka, with its 1,453 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 1,397 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a rise of 5%.
