According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under kharif rice is increased by 4.4 percent to 20,988 thousand hectares as against 20,109 thousand hectares sowed during the same period last year.
Chhattisgarh stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of rice, with 3,822 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 3,699 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an impressive gain of 3.3%.
Madhya Pradesh, with its 3,385 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 3,237 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a rise of 4.6%.
