Farmers have sown kharif crop of urad across 0.29 mln ha as of 30 June, up 71% on year. The acreage is also sharply higher than the five-year average of 166,500 ha for the corresponding period. Urad sowing has picked up significantly across the country due to good progress of monsoon current. Acreage of urad is highest in Madhya Pradesh at 121,000 ha.
