Madhya Pradesh government has extended the deadline for farmers to register for rabi crops under its price-deficit scheme by 12 days to Mar 24. The earlier deadline for farmers to register for the scheme Bhavantar Bhugtan Yojana was Mar 12. The registration for rabi crops had started on Feb 12. Under the scheme, the state government directly credits the difference in average market price and minimum support price to a farmer’s bank accounts. So far, 300,000 farmers have registered for the scheme. Registration drive is underway at 350 primary agricultural cooperative societies and 257 agricultural produce market committees
