Maharashtra chana output seen up 129% in year to June.

Chana production in Maharashtra is estimated to rise 128.8% on year to 1.8 million tonne in 2016-17 (July-June), due to adequate rainfall and remunerative returns earned during the year. Output of tur is expected to hit record highs this year. The farm ministry has sharply revised upward its production estimate for the pulse by 73.8% from its earlier estimate, to 2.04 million tonne. The state has estimated tur output in 2015-16 at 444,300 tonne.
