Maharashtra farmers told to wait for rains for sowing.

IMD has recommended farmers in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha to wait for sufficient rainfall before undertaking sowing activities of kharif crops. So far, southwest monsoon rains in the state have been 8% below normal. Absence of adequate soil moisture may hit growth of crops. The state is among the largest growers of cotton, soybean, paddy, and pulses.
