Maharashtra government has decided to sell chana and urad at a subsidised rate of 35 rupees per kg through ration shops under various welfare schemes. A state government notification said chana and urad stocks at National Agricultural and Cooperative Marketing Federation’s warehouses should be given to millers for converting into the split form or dal. The allocation to millers should be done by NAFED via NCDEX e-Markets Ltd, where the state-owned agency has already been auctioning the pulses in the open market. Maharashtra has capped the quantity of each variety of dal at 1 kg per ration card, or 2 kg of any one variety, to be sold ahead of Diwali.
