Arrivals of maize were almost negligible in key wholesale market Nizamabad, Telangana, as most farmers have sold their produce to the government. There was no supply in the market as farmers have sold their crop at procurement centres as market prices have been way lower than the minimum support price offered by the government. The Telangana government has been buying maize from farmers at a minimum support price of 1,425 rupees per 100 kg. The government has so far procured nearly 900,000 tn maize for 2017-18 (Oct-Sep) marketing year. Arrivals have now declined at procurement centres, too
