Maize down in Bihar on low buys, high output hope.

Prices of maize fell in the key wholesale markets of Purnea in Bihar due to weak demand and expectation of high output in the ongoing rabi season. Demand for maize was subdued in Bihar due to low buying of the coarse grain for exports. Exports have been lower this season as prices of Indian maize are uncompetitive in global markets. Prices were low also because the output in the ongoing rabi season is seen rising. Production of maize in Bihar is likely to rise 10% on year in the ongoing rabi season, helped by higher sowing of the coarse grain
