Ministry of Agriculture rejects India rice shipment for pest contamination.

Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), through the Aqaba border center, rejected entry of 12 rice containers of Indian origin, due to the pesticide residues within the final sample examined at the laboratories of the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) and the (MoA). Pesticide residues have a serious impact on human health and said the consignment contains about 270 tons for a trove of companies. The ministry left the choice to importers to either return the shipment to the country of origin or ditch it at their own expense. The report said the ministry imposes strict inspection of food imports, a bid carried out in cooperation with the laboratories of the RSS and private sector institutions to test the samples and verify their validity for human consumption.
