Prices of mustard seed were down in Jaipur due to a rise in arrivals amid low demand from domestic oil millers and crushers. Arrivals in Rajasthan were estimated at 70,000 bags (1 bag = 85 kg), up 10,000 bags. Expectations of a fall in demand, due to poor quality of stocks at the end of the season, is creating bearishness in the market. A fall in the acreage of the oilseed, however, cushioned fall in prices. Sowing of mustard seed across the country was at 6.6 mln ha as of Thursday, down 5% on year.
