The Myanmar Rice federation (MRF) has decided to export 300,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh within the facial year. Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF) informed that both the neighboring countries are currently negotiating a Memorandum of understanding (MoU) over the mater. Myanmar is expected to export 250,000 tons of white rice and 50,000 tons of parboiled rice to Bangladesh. Earlier this year, the Bangladesh Embassy to Myanmar proposed to purchase the rice. Dhaka communicated with MRF and Myanmar commerce ministry over the mater. Myanmar has already exported about 900,000 tons of rice to foreign countries by July this year. Major volume of the rice was imported by China (60 percent) followed by different countries of Africa, Europe and southeast Asia.
