ational Seeds Corp Ltd is planning to supply 20% more high yielding variety of certified seeds for pulses in 2017-18 (Apr-Mar). In 2016-17, the company had supplied 25,000 tonne such seeds for pulses. Good quality seeds would be supplied for key pulses like tur, moong, urad and chana, which is expected to push up yields by 5-10% on year. The hybrid ICPH-2740 tur seed, which is a drought resistant variety, would be supplied in a big way this year. For trials and multiplication of seeds developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, the corporation has 25,000 ha of land spread across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka. It also has 10,000 registered seed growers. The corporation recently bought small farm lands of 25 ha each in West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Overall supply of seed in the country is seen comfortable in the upcoming kharif sowing season.
