Futures contracts of maize rose nearly 1% due to a fall in acreage of the kharif maize crop. The most-active August contract was at 1,368 rupees per 100 kg, up 0.8% from the previous close. Depleting stocks of maize with farmers in Bihar, a major grower of maize in the rabi season, also supported prices.
