Futures contracts of soybean rise over 2% on NCDEX as the area under the oilseed fell in Madhya Pradesh. Sowing in the state fell to 1.5 mln ha against 1.9 mln ha the previous year. Slow progress of the southwest monsoon over Madhya Pradesh and poor returns from soybean last year are contributing to reduced sowing area this season.
