NCDEX sugar at 4-week low ahead of import allocations.

The May contract of sugar fell to a near four-week low on the NCDEX ahead of decision on allocations for raw sugar imports. Many import applications have been submitted,investors are also expecting that the govt may allow further imports. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade has received around 50 applications for import of duty-free raw sugar, much higher than anticipated. The cumulative quantity applied for is about six times the approved quantity of 0.5 million tonne. The May contract of sugar was down 0.7%
