No new deals for India rice exports to Iran as traders fear ban extension .

Even a week after Iran lifted a ban on rice imports, no Indian trader has entered into an export deal with the West Asian country due to apprehension that the restriction may be reinstated. We have heard that Iranian agriculture ministry has written to commerce ministry asking to continue the ban on imports for some more time as there is a huge stock on ports and domestic prices of the grain are weak. Some exporters believe that reports of the ban getting reinstated could well be a rumour as exports take nearly 15-20 days to pick up after such orders are passed.
