India’s coffee exports in 2017-18 (Apr-Mar) could hit an all-time high if current trends continue. In Apr-Jun, India exported 162,641 tn of coffee. Of this, 25.8% value added coffee exports. India has transformed from being a bulk exporter of green coffee to an exporter of value added products. Currently only 60-65% of green coffees are exported, against 90% earlier. On the demand-supply situation, globally consumption of coffee had outnumbered supply and a time might come when there wouldn’t be enough supply to meet the demand. Global consumption of coffee has increased at 2% a year during 2012-15, while global production has increased only 0.5% a year.
