Even as the government schedule of purchasing paddy started, government officials were not found interested in purchasing it. As much as 1,777 MT of paddy has reached the grain markets in the district. The purchase of paddy by the government will start from October 3. On the same day, Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra has called a meeting of officials regarding it. Officials have said that there was moisture in paddy more than the limit fixed by the government, due to which it could not be purchased. Only 600 MT has been purchased in Goniana Mandi by private agencies at Rs 1,600 per quintal while the MSP is Rs 1,590 per quintal.
