Paddy farmers across southern Karnataka face huge losses;following Cyclone Ockhi.

Paddy and finger millet growers of Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan and Kodagu sustained crop losses due to unseasonal rainfall following Cyclone Ockhi’s path of destruction across southern India. According to farmers in these districts, paddy was ready for harvesting but due to rain, the quality is expected to come down beside causing huge losses. Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC), said the finger millet crop is expected to turn black due to humidity which may affect the price. If paddy was cut and left on the farm, it will be affected by this rain. Standing crop won’t face any problems due to rain for a day or two.
