DM has asked all sub divisional magistrates and block development officers to visit all procurement centres in their respective areas to identify villages from where very little paddy procurement was registered. All SDMs are instructed to review procurement progress on a daily basis and inform me about the same in the evening. However, such a low progress clearly showed the lackadaisical approach of the officials concerned. However, we have met what we procured in last year, but will achieve cent percent target set for this year for sure. DM said officials involved in procurement were spared from the election duty to ensure that procurement was not affected. Such negligence will not be overlooked and stern action will be taken against those who are responsible for low procurement.For the farmers’ convenience, as many as 68 procurement centres have been set up across the district this year. Bareilly: Pilibhit and Bareilly procured over 60% of the target set for paddy in the state while Rampur was in the third position, said divisional commissioner PV Jaganmohan after a review meeting on procurement this season.In Bareilly, from 9,500 farmers cultivated paddy, producing over 92,000 metric tonnes.
