Poor demand of sugar pulls down prices in spot markets of North India and Maharashtra.

Prices of sugar are lower in the wholesale markets of north India and Maharashtra due to poor demand. In Delhi and Muzaffarnagar, prices fell by 10 rupees per 100 kg. In the key wholesale markets of Maharashtra, Mumbai and Kolhapur prices fell by 5 rupees per 100 kg. In Maharashtra, demand for sugar is low because of expectation of onset of monsoon in the state.
