Pulses imports at Nhava Sheva port up 98% on-mo in Mar, peas up 145%.

The Nhava Sheva port in Mumbai saw the import of pulses soar 97.7% on-month to 255,210.40 tonne. Imports of pulses surged in March after the government said it would start fumigating imported farm commodities with methyl bromide from April. The fumigation plan has since been deferred until June 30. Import of peas rise to 105,711.40 tonne in March from 43,120.00 tonne in February. The port had recorded 4,968.00 tonne pea imports in March last year.
