Pulses Key States Sowing Update

Rajasthan Kharif Pulses Sowing Jumps to 2,004 Thousand Hectares by July 4, 2025: Kharif pulses sowing in Rajasthan has witnessed a remarkable surge, reaching 2,004 thousand hectares as of July 4, 2025, compared to just 331 thousand hectares in the same period last year. Moong dominates the coverage at 1,354 thousand hectares and Urad at 188 thousand hectares.

Karnataka Kharif Pulses Sowing Drops 13.66% to 1,548 Thousand Hectares by July 5, 2025: Karnataka’s kharif pulses sowing reached 1,548 thousand hectares as of July 5, 2025, marking a 13.7% decline from 1,793 thousand hectares in the same period last year. Tur coverage dropped significantly to 988 thousand hectares, down 21% year-on-year. Moong and Urad saw marginal gains at 405 and 88 thousand hectares respectively, while sowing of other pulses rose to 67 thousand hectares. Despite these modest gains, the overall drop was led by sluggish Tur planting, influenced by patchy rainfall and delayed sowing in several key districts.
