Punjab government, looking for ways to stop burning of paddy stubble, has sought a higher support price for paddy farmers who harvest the stubble instead of setting it afire. The Punjab government has sought a differential MSP for paddy from next year. It wants farmers who do not burn the paddy stubble to get incentives in the form of higher MSP. The farm ministry received the proposal last week, and has sent it to the Commission on Agricultural Costs and Prices for evaluation
