The new rabi maize crop has started pouring into the markets in Bihar, but arrivals will take 10-15 days to pick up pace. While prices are largely unchanged on year, harvest has been lagging behind. The moisture content in the current crop is 16-18% compared with the ideal 14%. Maize harvesting in Bihar has been delayed this year due to adverse weather conditions at the time of crop growth as the output is also seen nearly 20-25% lower from a year ago.
