According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under Rabi Maize is increased by 4 percent to 2,051 thousand hectares as against 1,971 thousand hectares sowed during the same period last year.
Bihar stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of maize, with 792 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 602 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an increased by 32%.
Maharashtra, with its 284 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 351 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a decline in 19%.
