Rains have remained on the lower side for almost the entire state of Maharashtra during the month of March. Similar kind of weather prevailed in parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada as well. The region has remained dry almost so far in March after receiving some on and off rains accompanied by hailstorm during the initial days of February. Rains in both the regions generally occur due to the formation of a confluence zone that is the amalgamation of humid winds from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea over the region, that leads to cloud formation and subsequently to rainfall.
